Does anyone know if 1972 Jackpiners ever had center stands and, if so, how they attach?   Thanks!!

The Penton bikes 1972+  did not come with center stands. Just the side stands. However, the KTM's sold overseas could have been equipped with the center stand.
Look at the inside end of frame subs that the foot pegs bolt on to. If there is a drilled hole, or better yet - a threaded hole, then this is where you would fasten a center stand.

Thanka Al!  I bought a centerstand billed as a 1972 Jackpiner stand and it does not look like the Steel Tank or Sachs center stands.  I cannot wait to get to my bike and see if it will work.  I will post up the results.

John,

That frame, if it has a 7 prefix on the serial number on the steering head, is pretty much the same frame the 100 & 125 Sachs powered machines used, yes it is altered for the KTM engine, but it is essentially the same. Bill Smith took a few photos of my 1973 ISDT machine a few years back and some of them show some details of the centerstand, this link will take you to them.

It will attach with bolts that go thru the foot peg mounts, if you need a hand I think I can find my way back to the top of your beautiful mountain...:D

Paul, just be careful if there is snow covering a layer of ice, as I encountered on my adventure there this past Friday! Mike

Thanks I'm very excited to check it out!  The stand I received looks 100% like yours Paul even the return spring tab is identical.  What I cannot recall is anywhere for it to attach.  Yes it is definitely a 7- prefix bike with the crossover brake arrangement.  Will post when I know for sure.
