On my 400 I can't get the ignition flywheel off. The nut came off  fine. I don't have the removal tool so I tried with a 3 jaw puller and it's not budging. Does anyone have a suggestion ?  Chris

Well if you tried remove with a three prong puller, that is a big no no... You might of ruined the flywheel. You need to get an inside puller. You can get them Alan on the supplier page. I hope you did not damage the flywheel. Hope this will help.

JP, where is the best place to heat? The aluminum around crank end or down in the center at the threads? Thanks for the responses everyone.

You want to expand the flywheel not the crank stub. Carefully apply heat around the flywheel just outside of the threads, but not enough to overheat the crank seal unless you are planning on replacing it now. It helps to tap the center stud of the puller once pressure is applied with the puller tool to shock the flywheel loose. Mike

I have pulled a number of the flywheels off of many Penton's and KTM's using the correct puller. Fortunately, I have never had to use heat.  I'm sure heat will assist, but I do not like to use it around the engine

When I find a stuborn flywheel, a light tap on the bolt of the puller with a small hammer pops the flywheel off with no damage.
