Does anyone know if the pilot jet in a Bing carb needs the little o-ring or not?  The old one has one that is deteriated and the new one I got from Al does not have one.  Bing does not show one in their exploded diagram.  I should know this but can not remember.  Also if it needs it what is a good replacement I can get locally?  Thanks!

Hi Larry,

I don't know how that o-ring got in there, but I've never seen one on a pilot jet, Bing or otherwise. I think the metal to metal contact between the jet and carb body provides the seal. If there was damage or a porous casting on the carb body that could be an issue but probably would not be fixable with an o-ring. I would install Al's new jet and see how she runs.

+1 on what Wesley said. I have several Bings and have never seen an O-ring on the pilot/idle jet. Enough things can plug that tiny hole. I wouldn't want a deteriorating O-ring to add to it.

Thanks, I could not remember one but it is a Spanish Bing.  Not sure if that matters.
