Stubborn flywheel?

I can't remove the flywheel on my 74 250 KTM motor!

First the flywheel is external type on the 250 harescrambler.
The purchased flywheel puller that threads into the threaded center of the flywheel is very loose and when force is applied via the center bolt to end of crankshaft it just pulled through the flywheel threads!

I have tried everything from laying bike on side and soaking with penetrating oils to alternative flywheel pullers.
I am afraid to try any heat in this area for obvious reasons.

Does anyone have any tricks or suggestions that they have used to get off their stubborn Flywheel???

John,

Thread in the flywheel puller as far as possible, then tack weld (preferably TIG) the puller to the steel inner portion of the motoplat flywheel.  From there you should be able back it off using the bolt on the puller.  When it's off cut the tacks with a dremmel or die grinder and then clean up the threads on the puller with a knife file.

Thanks,

Kevin

John,

Is this a Motoplat flywheel?  I ask because on every motoplat flywheel I have here the very center where the threads are cut in for attaching it to the crank, is a ferrous material, most likely carbon steel.  Take a small piece of sandpaper or wire wool and clean that area of the flywheel and you will see that the center is not the same material as the remainder of the flywheel.

Thanks,

Kevin
