The manual stresses using silicone on air boot to airbox during installation. Is this a MUST? The boot can be a bit of a pain to get on and in place and clamp. 74 250 Hare model. I reach thru the air cleaner side work on the boot. Silicone seems like it will be a mess. What are ya'll doing? Scott

Hey Scott. I think spray silicone is whats recommended, not a messy caulk type. The spray will hang in there long enough to use it but then will disipate. Hank

Use it if the molded lip has imperfections or if the boot does not butt up to the air box body: no spray it might slip off.

This is not an area where the factory was trying to prevent dirt from seeping thru the boot to air box seal?

I heat it up to get boot to stretch easier. Works good for me
