We got the lectron dialed in enough for the scooter to rev out in
the first 4 gears ( ran out of road befor we could hit 5 th )
It dosent show much in the way of power yet. starts well and runs
clean ( I am amazed at the way the carb atomizes fuel. as rich as it
was i should have gone through 5 plugs befor we got to this point.
still running on the first one. ).
looks like its time to work with compression and or pipe and see
what we can get out of it.
Has anyone measured the cylinder to head clearance on a 175? not just the deck height measurement but the actual clearance between piston and head.
We measured mine with the deck height setting given for a 77 175 and its about 2 mm ( 75 thousandths)
It seems to me a 1 mm to .7 mm is a better # ( 40 to 30 Thousandths) clearnce between piston and head.

Keep us posted on the outcome of this machine. Interested in seeing how it stacks up against a 175 Jackpiner too.

Donny ,
we got the Lectron close last night. The pipe seems to make power at two high an RPM for me . Talked to Barry Higgins about it. It was something he had done way back when.
he suggested the 72 to 73 Piner pipe, thats the pipe he used . said it would be almost a drop in fit.
Al is checking to see if he had one at home. Anyone out their with a 72 or 73 piner pipe they could let go of?
It dosent need a good muffler section. I will need to do something different with the muffler anyway.

Al had one with the muffler shroud missing and the outside housing for a trap welded on it ...... must have been waiting on me to find it . *grin *
 thanks for trying to help!
Its on the way now. that gives me a chance to play with the deck height a bit befor i change anything else.

Got the second pipe fitted and had a chance to try it tonight. big
improvement. ran much better with a hit like a 125 B engine when it came on
the pipe. gearing is too low i think. ran out of gears before road
this time :>)
its a 72/73 Jackpine pipe with much thinner tapers than the 77 pipe
we had on at first. Looks like we can play with the stinger size and
the jetting and timeing a bit and see what it will do. it runs good
enough now to have done fine at Andres run this spring.
The head pipe is 1/8 inch larger than the stock 77 pipe. that may be
something to look at . i can run the 1 and 7/8ths inch size which
came with the 72/73 pipe or  make up one from 1 and 3/4 inch which
was the size on the 77 pipe.

What think ye?

I know a man in Aussie land that has put this cylinder in a 73
jackpiner and used the 73 pipe and loves it in grass track and in  mx.
the angle of the 77 cylinder exhaust port is steeper and the diam. 1/8 inch smaller than the 72 - 73 cylinder. So the 72-73 pipe has a
mismatch right at the start.
all input is greatly apprecieated :>))))
