Not wanting to jump ahead of anyone, if you have more than one available to sell, I could also use a sidestand for my 76 GS400. Thanks,

With short travel set up  7 and 4 inch ?

I do'nt understand the question?

Two lengths of swings were made . I really don't know what the 1976 GS6 ? had for forks and in 1976 they were called a Cross Country with shorter travel. The real GS6 (I was told/heard)   came out in 1977 used the mc5 frame long travel set up.( just crossing my t's)

Ok, I think I understand now. 7" of front fork travel and 4" of rear shock travel. Longer travel set ups would make the bike sit higher at rest and thus require a little longer kick stand. I will venture to say my 76 GS400 came with the longer travel and would need the longer kick stand of the two. If you have one of those,I think that would work for me. Lets give Larry a chance jump in here though, as this is his thread and I cant say what may suit his need.
                                Thanks much,Bob

Bob,
If your bike is a 76 Cross Country it is 7/4 inches of travel. The only 76 option would be the front ribbed forks with 220mm stamped on the lower legs, but would still probably take the same kick stand. He's just making sure you don't really have a 77 GS-6 because most people are confused about the difference. Mike

Thanks Mike! Yes,mine is a 76 GS400 not a 77 GS6. It is stock with the Marzocchi shocks and 35mm forks, so I would need a side stand for the short travel 4 and 7 set up then.
