I need to re-anodize the scratched and dinged rims and hubs on my restoration. I know there is different grades of hardness. Some can be removed with TB cleaner, others take a lot of chiseling with a sand blaster.  Any suggestions on who to use to get the original type of finish??

No anodize on hubs just the SUN brand rims, and was the only part that had it.

I should have mentioned it is an off topic question. I was hoping someone had experience re-coating the rims.

I have re-anodized rims.  There is a business in Indianapolis that can do it.  They turned out nice as you can choose colors or go clear.  I went clear.  Was about $150 a pair with shipping but that was about 2 years ago

I think my hubs may have had a clear coat that wasn't very durable, compared to the rims. Did you do any prep work, like polishing or glass beading your rims? Do you have the name of the business? I wonder what the original color was on Sun rims, probably silver or aluminium ?
Thanks for the reply.

I usually plastic bead all my aluminum and chrome prior to any work.  I did a pair of sun rims and had them clear coated and they turned out like new.  Have to google "anodizing" in Indianapolis as I couldn't find their business card.:(

Thanks for the info, will proceed.

If you want to restore an uncoated, original finish on the hubs, I haven't seen anything better than vapor blasting:

I like the disclaimer "Scooters?  Two-strokes?  Painted engines?  Multi-cylinder?  Sorry. I've given up on your ever sending me parts degreased and ready for vapor blasting."
I guess that leaves us out. I'll send mine to Dan Vitaletti. Mike

I selected that company at random just as an example.
As long as the parts are clean in terms of greasy crud, most of the outfits will do Penton type parts. I should have picked one I know people have used:
