Quick Question: Upon reassembly of jug and head to the bottom end, how much two stroke oil should be added to the crankcase area? I've never split cases, so I assume the crankshaft area is separate from the clutch and gears.

Thanks for your help with this newbie question.

None, crankshaft is lubed with the oil that's mixed with the gas.

Thanks, "thrownchain", with questions like that the message board thingee should take away my "ADVANCED MEMBER" status.

Wouldn't hurt to change the tranny oil.

Sachs = 700cc, KTM = 1.5 Qt.  I use Bel Ray Gear Saver 75Wt in all transmissions.  I use STP when assembling all top end pins and needles with light 30wt motor oil coating the cylinder.

Thanks all for the answers and suggestions.

I recall "back in the day" some of the experts giving assembly demonstrations at Penton Imports recommended using straight Hi-Point concentrate as an assembly lube during engine assembly.

Possibly they were being trained to be as good as salespersons, as they were mechanics  :)  But in all seriousness,  the integrity of each of these folks was beyond reproach.

Hope this helps,
Paul
