NOS tank

So I have this new fiberglass tank from the early 70's for a new project and want to get the tank painted. Since it has never seen gas should I Caswell coat or the POR clear that others have used or not coat it at all. I only use VP race fuel but have had older tanks fail because the sealer just has never held up on the old tanks. Coat or not to coat that is the question. Your input will be appreciated.

All the Ossa,Bultaco,Ducati,Greeves ,Penton tanks held up fine till ethanol supplemented fuels came around....48 years of experience with fiberglass tanks...

I had one tank that bubbled the paint and the fuel was not supposed to have any ethanol. The only time I used pump gas but the station owner said it was ethanol free. $400 paint job down the drain. Maybe he lied but I hate to risk it again.

WHY ?? would you paint a NOS new tank away!!

It is just white gel coat.

If its the small mx tank it would be for the Mint 400 . rare tank[8D]

Penton tanks with a few exceptions were gel coated the color of the bike, not painted. Mike
