Anyone know the chain size and number of links for a 77 125 GS6? I'm thinking 428 and about 120 links? Seems like they went to a 520 on a 175-250 and a 530 for the 400...Any input is appreciated.

It was 428 but not sure of the links.  I have some NOS countershaft sprockets for that KTM motor if you find a need.

Steve, according to the 1977 gs6 parts manual the 125 and the 175 both came with 5/8x1/4 chain which is a 520.With a 52t rear sprocket. The 1976 125 came with 428 set up.Not sure of the no.of links in the chain or what tooth counter sprocket it came with,my light just blew in my micro-fiche machine. If you need a copy of this manual send me your address,I will make you one.Good luck.

Seems like the 520 would be a horsepower eater on that motor to me.  Did not remember 520 on those.

Thanks Bob...I think I have that parts list in my library.

Larry...the motor is actually a 76 and the frame is a 77. I seem to recall it taking a 428 chain too.

Thanks all

I'm restoring a 77 GS6 125 right now and it had a 520 chain on it, don't know if that was original or not.

Larry, I once put a 520 chain kit on a Elsinore 125 ( not sure why, lol) it was like. Dragging a boat anchor. I went back to the 428 !!
