Has anyone switched from oil in the bolt and bearings to grease. If you put a grease fitting on one side, would it pump through to the bolt hole? Would it provide enough lubrication?

I'm restoring a bike that had zerks installed instead of the oil plugs, wish they all came that way.  Packed full of grease and very easy to take apart.  Whoever did this used metric zerks so you can switch back to oil if you want.
