American Motorcyclist Association announces Recreational Riding Department manager
Heather Wilson to work with clubs and promoters
November 06, 2017
PICKERINGTON, Ohio — Heather Wilson has been named Recreational Riding Manager for the American Motorcyclist Association.

Heather Wilson

Wilson, 24, will work with AMA-chartered clubs and promoters to organize riding activities for motorcyclists, including both on-highway and off-highway events. She joined the AMA staff in 2014 and previously served as associate editor and, most recently, as recreational riding and volunteer assistant manager.

"I look forward to continuing to work with AMA-chartered clubs and promoters to expand the number of quality recreational riding events," Wilson said. "We're here to assist organizers with coordinating fun events for riders, whether it's a stop on one of our national series—dual sport, adventure ride or Gypsy Tour—or it's a local trail ride, poker run or other riding event."

Previously, recreational riding was combined with management of the State Chapters and volunteer program.

Marie Wuelleh

Wilson's changing role is part of a restructuring that will allow AMA State Chapter Networks and Volunteer Manager Marie Wuelleh to expand her programs and create new opportunities for AMA members to get involved with the organization and their fellow riders.

AMA State Chapter Networks provide a framework for maintaining and managing groups of volunteers who can be organized to help fulfill the AMA mission to protect and promote motorcycling.

"The AMA volunteer network is a vital part of the organization's structure, providing help at AMA events, speaking out publicly on important motorcycle issues and building the framework for state-level organization," Wuelleh said. "I will be speaking with members about AMA volunteer opportunities, administering the AMA EAGLES training program and identifying volunteer leaders who can assume additional responsibilities."
