1975 (?) KTM/Penton 400 engine FS

This is an engine that I bought from a gentleman (cannot remember his name) this spring at the Penton gathering up at the northern Ohio HQ. Its got great compression and we did get the spark plug to spark when we had it in the bike. I paid $650 for it and now do not need it. It is heavy. Am selling it as is - no guarantees. Would prefer a local pickup (Columbus, Ohio south side of the CMH airport). It is big and heavy!!

The engine number that you posted is a casting number for a 250 engine case. The actual engine number will be located right above the ignition cover on the right hand side of the engine by the front motor mount. If it is a 400 engine it should start with the year number and 55-, a 250 starts with the year number then 54-

The number posted is the part number of the outer case which was the same on 250 and 400.  Mike has pointed you to the right direction to find engine number.

Think of the joy your POG member would have finding this under the Christmas tree!!! And be sure to put it under the tree as he/she could break a foot tripping over it!
