Little off topic, but I know most of us collect many brands.  Details of the bike are as follows.  Price is 3000 - Firm.  Thanks.

The Cota 123 (28M) was produced from 1972 to 1974 with total production run of 8,850 bikes. This early 72 matching frame and engine bike is number 0190 of that run. Most likely one of the first Cota 123's to land in the US. Probably too pretty to use for vintage competition, but more than capable. Would be a great show bike or could be used as display piece in a corporate or private collection.

I am the 3rd owner of this bike.
This bike was given a complete mechanical and cosmetic restore in 2012. Since this restore this bike has only seen about 8 hours of non-competitive use. It has only been shown once at the 2015 World Round Trials and won "Best European in Show" in the vintage trials bike show.

As part of the restore the bike was completely torn down and every component was refurbished or replaced. Details include;

Complete Engine Rebuild – Connecting rod, all bearings, seals, gaskets and some transmission gears were replaced. Top end received a fresh bore and hone along with a 1 over NOS OEM piston. Engine cases were lightly polished to resemble the factory finish and the head and jug were powder coated using high heat satin black. Bike runs and shifts great. Professionally Powdercoated Frame, Swingarm, Hubs, Jug, Head and Exhaust.

Body – Seat pan and side panels were reinforced with a fresh layer of fiberglass. Tank was double sealed using Caswell Dragons Blood Sealer for protection against ethanol-based fuels. Tank and body were professionally painted using urethane paint then clear-coated buffed to resemble the original gel-coat finish.

Seat – The seat foam was reinforced with a secondary layer of foam and a custom hand stitched seat cover was created with the same seam/stitch lines as the original and an embroidered "Montesa" badge on the back.

Wheels – The hubs were powder coated statin black, new wheel bearings and brake shoes were installed and then mated with new Radaelli rims and Buchanan stainless steel spokes and nipples. Tires are new Shinko's and have a period correct look. It should be noted, the original 17" rear and 20" front where were replaced with 18" and 21" rims as part of the restoration process. This was a common upgrade back in the day given and the current unavailability of 20" trials tires was necessary as part of this restore.

Suspension – The original Montesa/Betor forks were rebuilt and the sliders lightly polished. Fork tubes are straight and pit free. The original fork gaiters have been replaced with 30MM dust covers, but a set of NOS Montesa gaiters are included as part of the sale. The bike has been equipped with NJB trials shocks and the original shocks that came with the bike are included in this sale.

Fenders – The original fenders were retained and mended as part of the restore. These show some patina / age but fit the restore well.

Electrics – The original pointed Motoplat ignition was retained and new points, condenser and coil were added. Both the original Rinder headlamp and reproduction tail lamp function as they should.

Carb – The original Amal 25MM 625/10 carburetor was retained with a complete rebuild: slide, needle jet, jet needle, pilot jet, main jet, gaskets and float needle.

Miscellaneous – New bars, levers and perches, cables, petcock, throttle, sprockets etc. All components that were originally zinc coated (pegs, brake pulls, brake rod, brake pedal, snails, etc.) have been re-zinced with the same dull factory finish. The majority of the hardware on the bike has been replaced with polished stainless steel for corrosion resistance.

Being sold with bill of sale only, no title.
