Looking for a chain tensioner in good condition for a 76 KTM MC5250.

They don't have chain tensioners as such, only a lower chain guide attached to an aluminum girder near the back sprocket, which should be available from Al buehner on the parts supplier page, and a lower roller and upper chain guide near the front, also probably available from Al. Mike

The later MC5 bikes had a roller attached to back motormount piece that attaches to motor.  It was like the earlier ones but had two little arms coming down that a roller attached to.  Chain ran over that roller.  Was like a little skateboard wheel.  Was not spring loaded or anything but helped on chain slack.

Just as I stated, and Al has those parts in his catalog for that roller assembly, and components. I have purchased the complete assemblies from him before. Mike

I missed the roller part Mike.  Sorry for the reiteration.  Oldtimers disease.  LOL!

So the part that I'm referring to mounts on the opposite side of the frame from the right foot peg. It's a bracket with a nylon guide that is spring loaded to put pressure on the chain. I got photos if I can get your email or I can just check with Al. Anyway thanks for your help , always appreciated. GP

Penton KTM MC5 have right side chain and sprockets. All of the chain guides are on the right side of the bike. No factory spring loaded chain tensioners were ever used, however Carl Cranke designed an aluminum elongated diamond shaped replacement piece that anchored the brake plate, replacing the aluminum girder, that had an optional spring loaded chain tensioner. It was often sold as a Hi Point upgraded part. Al's site in the chain section area of his website pictures and sells the standard version which accepts the stock nylon type guide block. Just sent some photos of my part that's in question. Thanks Michael

That appears to be the old style Pro-Tec ? rubbing block type spring loaded tensioner which also mounts on the right hand side in place of the roller. I haven't seen one of those for years. The Carl Cranke unit would be much better. Mike
