Anybody know what brand of tires were on the first Pentons to hit our shores in 1968?

Kevin,
My 68 steel tanker # V144 still has on it what I believe are the original tires and they are Metzler. Front is 2.50x21 and rear is 3.50x18. Maybe someone else can chime in with confirmation of exactly what they used as my bike is quite a bit later than the first 10 that came to the USA.

Thanks Dave, I've found printed subject matter that indicate 2.50X21, 2.75X21, and 3.00X21 for the front. They all agree 3.50X18 rear.
Metzler is the brand. I'm pretty sure Metzler produced the Hi-Point tires on later models.

There are some NOS 2.75-21's on eBay right now. I bought one for myself and it's nice for $99.96 plus Shipping. I think Glenn Adams has them in Texas. Mike

V - 015 has Metzlers on it as well.  2:50 X 21 front and 3:50 X 18 rear.

The Hi-Point tires were made by the Carlisle Tire Company, Carlisle, PA.
