76-77 MC5 front number plate reproduction

I am thinking about having the MC5 front number plate reproduced by a friend who is doing molds and reproducing the RM number plates currently. The last original NOS one I have seen was on a display bike at the AMA museum owned by Kent Knudsen. I have a couple original ones he will be using as the pattern but I would like to find a nicer one to scan. Cost of producing 10 would be about $50 a piece, less for a larger quantity. Any thoughts? I need five or six myself.

Was it something different than an oval with brake cable guide?

Quite different than just a standard oval with slots and accelerator cable hole, KTM logo and part number on back.
Difference between generic and original.

I guess I would not call that quite different but was not aware of the part number thing.  Thanks.  I guess if you were doing one of those concours restorations then it would matter.  But then I guess every nut and bolt should be original.  Seems like the fenders and sidepanels would be in bigger demand for that kind of detail.  Thanks for the info.

Off topic and could be wrong but I think his swingarms are 78s with proper mounts for center stands.  Somewhat hard to find.

Yes, that's definitely a 78 GS-6 swingarm. I have a 78 250 GS-6 KTM myself, and the GS-6's are the only ones with the bracket for the plastic chain guard shield.

I would be interested in one or two. May want to make them without the cable holder device holes though as they don't exist. Same number plate for the 1976 GS bikes
