Greetings,

The May POG meeting has been canceled.

Rumor has it that when we have our next meeting the part of the meeting agenda titled "Field Trips", where folks tell of interesting travels they have had in the past month, will be changed to " Where did You find toilet paper" :)

Keep smiling everyone and be safe. We sure are lucky to have our Penton motorcycle related hobbies and friends to help us all through these times.

   THANK YOU John Penton.....:D

Greetings,

Just a friendly reminder that the May POG meeting has been canceled.

Surely most of you have by now visited the Penton Owners Group Photo Gallery portion of this fine website. But, how many of you have watched the videos that are in the Video Gallery ?

Here is a taste of what awaits you thanks to the efforts of Ted and Reb Guthrie.

Paul sad but you really got the word out in "Beautiful Downtown Amherst, Ohio" tonight about no POG meeting.....everyone and I mean EVERYONE stayed home! Sad time in Amherst without the POG meetings......but there's ample parking on "Park" Avenue in "Beautiful Downtown Amherst, Ohio" for some carryout at Ziggy's and plenty of seating inside.....but you can't sit down just yet :( maybe next month for the pre-POG meeting getting a bite to eat? Hopefully :)

Ah, yes, Mike ... memories of downtown Amherst, 1958. Park Ave, meat market on the right. Proceed on down past Benjamin Franklin, Kresge's, a drug store (with a real soda fountain) and a grocery store at the end of the block. Turn left at the town hall onto S. Main and go about three blocks under the railroad tracks and past Central School, down the hill, and turn right up the drive at the bottom. This was the Kovach's home (Aunt Mary's, dad's oldest sister) were I stayed for 2 years when my mom was sick.
Conversely, at the camera position in the photo, back up, turn left and go a half block south on Church St. to the movie theater where as a 8 year old I was the most scaredist kid ever watching Godzilla and Rodan destroy Tokyo. Luckily the city was rebuilt by the time later I spent three years there at an Air Force Base...:)

Hi Tom, thanks for sharing those memories. :) Re-thinking those couple of photos I should have, and could have stood right smack in the middle of the intersection (Church & Park) and taken photos in all four directions.....there wasn't a vehicle on any street except my car I drove to pick up the to go order. [:0] In my nearly 40-years living here I have never seen the streets empty like this! This was last night at around 8:15 pm EST. Normally, as you well know, you're lucky to find a place to park within a four block radius, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. Even the hospital parking lot is full of vehicles that shouldn't be parking there and the bars and restaurants are jumping. I came up here more than a few times back in the early '70's and always stopped in "Tommy's Rec" or the pizza place across the street, always a good time and good memories too.
