Premix theory

An old racing buddy of mine once told me that premix with a higher oil ratio produces more heat than a premix with a lower oil ratio. His theory was the oil burns slower than the gas, therefore it burns longer and therefore produces more heat.

Any thoughts?

In theory, the oil should not burn. If it does then it's not doing it's job. The modern synthetic oils are mixed at much higher ratios so you need to lean out your main jet a bit because you will be rich on the gas side, and that should help lessen smoke and other discharges. I switched to Opti-2 a long time ago as per Helmut "Speedy" Clasen's recommendations. I don't ride any where near as much as most of you but I have never had a problem while I have been running it. Plugs look better and cleaner and foul much less. But to my understanding, the oil doesn't and should not burn and that is why you get all the spooge with older premix oils at 32 to 1. That is my humble opinion.
