What color ?

Hi Guys, I'm now the owner of a '77 250 Penton w/lights. I was wanting to repaint the tank & side panels and wasn't sure what color to use. It looks like Allis Chalmers Orange before it faded. Can anyone tell me what it is for sure. Appreciate the help, John A

Hi John, I asked the same question myself for my 76 250 GS and got several answers, Mine could be red ,orange and I think someone said if it was west of the Mississippi it could be blue. All of the parts I have are red so there is my answer,but back in my day the red was a 100cc ! Ha, let some unexpecting soul jump on this one with that in mind.

Here is what I remember.

1973 250 Penton-yellow
1974-75 250 Penton-red
1976-77 250 Penton orange

I can't remember in 76 and 77 what color KTM sold bikes were out West but Mike Lenz probably remembers.
