Forgive my ignorance, I bought a nice 74 Penton 125 ISDT but never owned one before.  How do you change, add and measure oil to the crank?

Thanks in advance

Change oil by removing the clutch side cover(make sure you have a spare gasket) and drain.  You should  only be  changing oil since you cannot measure the amount (or level) in the gear case.  Oil to the crankshaft is provided by the oil in the gas tank.  The ratio on oil/gas mixture is up to the indiviual.  The reason not to take the drain plug out is so you won't take the threads out with bolt and that you don't take out the wrong bolt.
