Apart from the backbone, is the high-breather 73 frame much different from the 72 frame?  Suspension and steering head geometry looks much the same to my untrained eye.

And, why in Gods Green Earth did KTM use the conical hub on the scramblers and the full-width on the enduro bikes?  Was there a belief that the "quick release" full width hubs really were quick?

AS far as I know the geometry is the same, for the conical hubs, that you would have to talk with ?????

vmx1963,
I measured the '72 to the '73 back in the 70's and the steering head geometry was the same.  This was done by using a straight rod fixed with cones in the center of the steering head. Then a plum bob dropped stright to the ground from the center of the steering head( where the rod is afixed).  Take the angle from the line on the plum bob to the rod and you have the rake angle.
On the conical hub models I think Joe Wright Jr. from Texas has worked with(changed) those steering head angles.
