Hi guys
I have two speedos here for my 250 KTM's. One is marked in km/h and the other in mph. Both speedos are stamped 11/74. Descriptions as follows.

speedo 20/109/07 w=0.88 marked to 140 km/h has white ring around face

speedo 20/109/12 w=1.42 marked to 120mph has plain black face

I take it that either of these speedos may have been installed on identical bikes depending on the country of destination. Is that correct?

David;
You are correct, the 1.42 ratio was used in the US for the front wheel drive VDO Speedometers.   COuldn't tell you for sure about the k/mph but the ratio would make it work that way

There's approx. 1.6 km. in a mile (just off the top of my head) so 1.6 X .88 equals approx. 1.41.
That would seem to indicate that both these speedo heads would be set up for the same axle drive. Which of course makes sense.
