Hi All,
I need a few internal parts for the forks on the Steeltanker I'm planning to ride in the ISDT RR in October. Got the forks torn down and found a broken snap ring and very badly scored bushing that goes on the metering rod. Anybody got any new spares or even some good used one ?? I tried Al B. and Donny and neither of them have the bushings. Parts I'm needing are on page 13 of parts list. Bushing is item #14 part number 1-24-000 and circlip (snap ring) is item # 15 part number 1-23-000. Please let me know if you have any and can help me out. Thanks !!

Hi Kip,
WOW !! Talk about help in a hurry !! I'll bet my post wasn't up more than five minutes before you posted a reply. I think it's great how everyone on this site always tries to pitch in and help. Just sent you an email about the parts. Thanks again !!

Make absolutely sure you have the circlip holding in the damper rod installed correctly. My friend Tom transplanted some 32mm Penton forks onto his BSA MXer and the fist time he rode it at Gatorback this spring, his whole front wheel and lower forks FELL OFF going over a jump. He augered in and about broke his neck.Apparently the circlips were put in round side down and they pulled out (maybe he deserves it for robbing a Penton;). Just a heads up. Dan Pagel

Thanks for the info Dan and sorry to hear about what happened to your friend. Hope he's doing okay now. I certainly plan to use your advice when I reassemble the forks. I can see where it could be real hazardous if the circlips failed or became dislodged from their grooves. I plan to use a new circlip when I put them back together and will be sure to get it installed correctly. Thanks again for the  great post !!
