Fr. Shock Disassembly

POG, need tip on removing the 6mm hex bolt on bottom end of my 35 mm Ceriani's. Shocks are off the bike. Have tried placing shock in the vise but stopped after much pressure with the hex wrench. Don't want to tear up the heads before removing them. Is there a better type of tool, angle of approach, etc. I'm just trying to use a small hex wrench and can't seem to get good leverage on them. Get a 6mm hex socket & use your impact driver with a hammer.  It should loosen right up without ruining your hex bolt.

It's always easier to loosen that before you remove from the triple trees.

crheeterman.. here is what I do with good success. Get a good air impact gun, turn the forks upside down with the hex head so you can see it. Then use a socket allen head with extention on the air impact. press the forks down and remove the bolt. This puts a load on the springs in the forks to hold the piston inside. Remember to put something under the forks so you don't scratch the other end. One thing more  "Remember Righty tighty.. Lefty loosey".:D Hope this will help Gary

...Or you could go really low-tech, and just have someone push down on a broom handle with the springs removed, as you loosen the bolts!
