I am getting ready to order a new seat cover and foam for my 72 Piner.  It came with a short / low seat.  Using the existing base does anyone know if I can replace the short / low with a short / tall? I like the look of the tall seat better than the short.

Thanks,

KD

Kevin:   check the suppliers page, I think Al Buehner can fix you up.

Kevin,

There are only 2 bases availible, Short and Long. If you have short base you can use short tall foam and a short tall cover to get the desiried seat. I believe the short tall seat was used for a time early in 74' after that all the bikes had long tall seats.

My 72 Six Day had the short low seat foam/cover stock. I swithced over to short high foam and cover (purchased from Al. B.)with no problems whatsoever.

How much difference is there in height on the 2 cushions? Can you tell the difference?

I changed mine to the short/tall. It helps a lot.

I don't think it is more than maybe a couple of inches taller. The important part for me is that it is flatter than the low seat. The one annoying aspect of the 72 Penton's configuration is that the seat always forced you toward the front of the bike. Great for woods riding but not too good out west in the desert.
