Correct Finish on Head and Cylinder?

What would be the correct finish for the cylinder and head on a 1978 KTM 400?  My bike shows some signs of having been sprayed with silver paint sometime in the past.  If this is not correct, what can I do to restore the finish to its original condition?  Thanks!

I am curious myself.  I had just asked Phil questions on the finish.  Looking through all my old pictures from way back when, best I can tel and remember is that all the cylinders were unfinished and no paint.

One 78'GS6 400 from VA. was unpainted when puchased in 81'.

My early 1974 250 Harescrambler was unpainted and was my 1980 MC 250, but when painting the engine cases I just slightly oversprayed the fins to help keep the slight corrosion from getting worse. I am going to use the Duplicolor DE1650 cast coat aluminum that was recommended on the webiste for my next engine case and overspray the fins in the same manner.

What I have run into is, the cylindar not painted and the head has been painted on the KTM motors.

Thanks for all the input!  It appears my bike is as Rocket said.  My cylinder shows no signs of paint, but the head has definitely been sprayed in the past.  I'm just not sure who did the painting!  Thanks again.
