I have noticed in the last POG newsletter that a couple of POG members have had a few disasters. One a fire the other a flood. Both events the owners suffered losses. As our collections grow and the price of these bikes goes up the loss could be substantal. A good way to protect your collection is to have adequate insurance on it. It is also important to have good documentation. Photo's with accurate discriptions of the bikes serial numbers ect. Take photo's of your parts stash as well. Keep these records in a safe deposit box. If you have a lot of bikes as I do ( Over 50 bikes including 3 Pentons) you may want to get an acredited appraiser do an appraisal on your collection. This way if there is a problem the insurance company can not back out of providing coverage. You can find acredited appraisers in Hemmings Motor News or give me an email.

If you are not a dealer or shop owner, I have finally found someone else with a private collection with more bikes than mine (21). A good garage alarm and proper locks helps!

I am the one who had the fire. Do you know of a good carrier for this type of thing?
