Need picture of a 6A left hand crank case half , specifically the bearing that goes around mainshaft.  Shaft with shifter do hicky.  Want to see how much material is around the bearing.  Can a 5A 16004 bearing case be bored to take the larger 16005 bearing from a late 5A or 6A is my question. Ted;
The cases of the early, small selector key, rod and main shaft used the smaller bearing.   The selector shaft has a adjustable set of nuts, one which the yoke fits on.    The later cases (when they went to the large selector key) has a bigger bearing for the main shaft because the main shaft was also changed to be able to accomodate the larger selector rod and key.    I don't think you have enough material to bore and fit the larger bearing.  The cases are also matched pairs, there is numbers stamped under the lower rear engine mount.   The same number should be on both case halves.   These are matched pairs from the factory.   Sachs believed keeping them together after line-boaring to prevent any miss alignment.   Good Luck and have fun!
