I know this has nothing to do with Pentons, but one of my Good Friends and a top competitor for several decades in Class C was critically injured over the weekend at Springfield.  I got an update today and thought I would pass it along.  Please remember Terry and his wonderful Family in your thoughts and Prayers.

Euless, Texas flat-tracker goes down hard

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While this is not mx, perhaps many of you may know this rider. He has trained at Village Creek and at Mosier Valley.

On the final lap of the Springfield Mile several riders fell at well over 100 mph, due to some coolant on the track. Terry Poovey of Euless, Texas was one of them.

Terry was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition with head and chest injuries.

It is my understanding the other riders are banged up but okay.

As of about 2am last night Terry was on a respirator, he had broken his neck C-5 and C-6 and all his ribs on the left side. The good new was he had moved his arms and legs and his wife, brother, and daughter who is his pride and joy are all by his side, with Kenney Tolbert, Chris and Pam Carr Sarah Goad and a lot of his friends.

"Terry Poovey's Condition - Monday 8 P.M. Update"

Tue May 30, 06 01:16 AM by Roy Plattel

Terry's condition is unchanged from this morning. He has broken all of the ribs on his left side, C2 and C6 vertebra in his neck and has a severe head injury.

He is on a respirator and in a drug induced coma. The doctors are encouraged by his stability. They intend to keep him under for 24 to 48 hours more to give his brain time to heal.

Over 2000 of you have viewed the WEB site, emailed or called. The family expresses its sincere "thank you" to all of you and the IMDA for their support in this difficult. The outpouring of support and offer of assistance are amazing!

Please do not hesitate to call or email.

Thanks to everyone for their Prayers and emails.  Here is the latest update on Terry.

Injured dirt tracker Terry Poovey remains in a coma in the Springfield Memorial Hospital as of today, Monday, June 5, according to his brother Ted.

"It's really pretty much the same," Ted Poovey said. "There are no complications, but it's just going to take more time and he's still in a coma. Our prayers are with him and the outpouring from the motorcycling family has been incredible."

Poovey crashed during the Springfield Mile on May 29.

Just saw this posted and though I would put it on our site.

The following is from JB Norris...

AMA Flat Track announcer and artist, JB Norris is offering one of his flat track fine art pieces on Ebay to help Terry Poovey and his family. "I hope the Dirt Track Family will open their hearts and wallets for Terry," said JB.

Terry Poovey, a long time star of the AMA Grand National Dirt Track Series, was injured in a multi-bike crash on the last lap of the recent Springfield Mile. Terry, although making good progress, remains in a coma in a hospital in Texas. Terry was recently transferred by air ambulance from Springfield, Illimois to Dallas. The air ambulance bill was $10,000.

JB is offering this special "PULLIN' FOR POOVEY" Flat Track fine art piece on Ebay in an effort to help Terry's family cover this and/or other expenses they have incurred as a result of his injury. Proceeds from this sale will be sent to the family.

This oil on canvas art work depicts Terry racing through a corner aboard his XR-750 Harley-Davidson on The Springfield Mile the day he was injured.

"Pulling for Poovey" is a 30" x 24" stunning piece of flat track fine art on canvas. It is framed with a process known as gallery wrapped. The canvas is wrapped around a sturdy wooden frame and is ready to hang.
