Thanks to the folks here on this site I found what I think is a 1973 125? The frame had numbers 3-04-64525 on it. Can someone guide me on how to I.D. this please? I did not get the engines numbers though. Thank you.

Doug,
The "production years" choice on the main page can give you a lot of insight on things. If the number starts with 304 it means March, 1974 and the following five numbers are the frame number. Is this the bike from Goodlettsville?

Check the production guide. I think you have that reversed. Should be, first- year, then month, so it would be an April 73 bike. Is that correct, Sheriff?

Correct...the bike was built in March of 1973.  Wade I would be interested if when you take the seat off can you see the top of the green airbox?  If you can that means it is a low breather frame as oppesed to a high breather frame that the air comes in under the tank...just curious.  Thanks.  Lew that is Sherriff according to Brob[:o)].

Hmm. Not sure. The left side cover was off and it was open to air box. I am very limited in my knowledge. Its been 25 years. Was there a time difference in the top and bottom breathers? I took a couple of pics but I didnt take one without the seat.

Doug,
I just got back on to correct my mistake and others beat me to it. First digit means year, next two mean month. It has been a long, long week at work, and brain fade has set in.

Patrick

Smiles I can understand that. Brain faid happens to me real quick any more. Close to stepping in the door of being 50. They tell me it get you the? Lol. Think mine started early. Thanks.

My brother has 2 304 dated (April of 73) six days, one I used to own.
They are both high breather frames. Mike

If it helps with the "triangulation", I've got a "302" (Feb 03) that is a high breather.

Patrick,
I hope you didn't catch that brain fade from me?  Thanks Mike for the info.

Thank you all for the great info. I hope I will have the pleasure of meeting you all in person.

I wish I could blame it on you Ron, but it seems to be primarily self induced.
#304 means April, 1973 right?

According to the production guide, the numbers are year first, then month. So 304 is April 73.  Kinda like the British calender, they do backwards too.
