In the early 70's, he was a Sportsman class motocrosser on a Penton Six-Day.
He went on to become a AMA Grand National Dirt Track Champion.
Can you name him ?

Yes Dan ! ! It is 2 time Grand National Champion, and Factory Harley-Davidson rider Randy Goss.
I'll look for the old Cycle News picture of him on his Penton, and post a little bit more about the subject. (when I find it ?)
Think about this : Jay Springsteen, Randy Goss, and Scott Parker all hail from the same general region around Flint, Mich. What's up with that, do you suppose it's in the water ? :-)
Thanks for sharing all, that's what makes it fun.

You're forgetting another great rider from Flint, the legendary Bart Markel, who recently passed away.

Bob, maybe it is in the water.  Many of those guys probably did ice racing in the winter and kept their skills current doin that ;)

The clue was in the most recent edition of Still Keeping Track. In the Looking Back column there was a reference to "R. Goss, Penton" from Cycle News, at either an MX or cross-country in Michigan. I remember figuring when I read it, must be Randy Goss.
