3-Hour Endurance Ice Race January 20th

I know its not Penton related, but I'm promoting some Lake Koshkonong ice racing here in southern Wisconsin January 19th & 20th. This will be our 12th annual 'Steel Shoe Fund' benefit race. Saturday will be Short Track ovals and Sunday will be the 3-Hour race. Past winners of the 3-Hour Race include ISDT rider- Jeff Fredette, Grand national rider- JR Schnabel, and Supermoto rider- Benny Carlson. The last running event had all three of the above mentioned names & their teams competeing, along with former national moto champ, Doug Henry... Over 75 teams competed on the 2.5 mile track with Schnabel winning. If any northern POG members need some winter burn-out releif... your welcome for a weekend of ice racing & fun. Stop and say hello... I'll be the one with a clipboard in my hand during the races, and a Miller in my hand afterwards. Tom G.

I'll see you here. Mean lookin' KX500 ice ride! I'll be thinking of that picture when I lay out the track. Every year we get more and more teams ...and the more teams, the faster the ice goes away in the tight corners (see the #35 bike photo attachment). At three quarters of the way through the race, it gets pretty hairy straddling the fast lines with the plow truck's tires so we don't break through the ice. Some of those corners wear into about 12" inches plus of ice. This year, if snow conditions permit, we'll try to build two similar tracks with the same pit entrance/exits. This way at the race 'half-way' point, we simply move a couple few cones, and Ta-Da! ...a wide open fresh track! Hopefully we can pull it off.
