I have (2) NOS Exhausts #51.05.170.700 for 1977 MC 125. These are the 'stubby' or 'short' pipes with built in silencer. $175.00 each USD + shipping.

Does anyone know if these pipes will bolt up to a 77'GS6 175cc?

Thanks,
Dewayne

I installed a 76 125 MC5 pipe in the same 76 125 MC5 chassis with a 7 fin 1975 175 engine using the 125 exhaust manifold and with just a small amount of cylinder head fin trimming. I amagine that it would fit the 77 GS6 chassis OK with the possibility of having to relocate the rear mounting bracket. I don't know if the main body of the 125 pips is smaller than the 175 pipe. I will be installing the same 175 7 fin engine in a 77 MC5 chassis and if the 77 175 MC5 pipe that I now have doesn't clear, I may be looking to trade for a 125 pipe. Mike

Mike,
Barry Higgins told me he did several 125 to 175 conversions on the early 125 KTMs
We were talking about options for my bike at the time. He said they used the 125 pipe and 175 top end. They added some to the center section on the 125 pipe to get it to work the best. He could give you better info if you can contact him.

John,
Thanks for the info on the 175 conversion. I'm building this particular bike with the early 175 wider power band engine for my son with a lowered suspension, so peak performance is not an issue, but pipe fit/clearance is more important with the taller cylinder of the 7 fin engine. Mike

Dewayne,
I have one of those (pictured above) nos MC5 125 pipes.
If you want to try fitting it, to see how close it is, give a shout.

Those 77"125-175 pipes were the same except for the silencers, those will fit a 77'gs6 175 fine.Want to make it really quiet just find a weld on old supertrapp and stick it on there!Hot setup back then anyway,,saved about 35+pounds,lol!Merry Christmas everybody!:)later 77's came that way anyway"

Ok guys-just for grins-will these pipes work on an older(74) Jackpiner?Making new brackets are no problem, was more wondering if there is clearance to frame tank,etc.-Anyone tried one? Thanks,

I have a 1976 125 mc5 pipe , the thing is so small that Iam going to put on my 100 penton   sachs race bike . I also had a 1977 175 mc5 and the pipe on it was alot LARGER in every respect .Unless the 125s in 77 changed the pipe the they would seem to be on the small side for a 175 motor.[8D]

Doing a few bikes at once , but have had a mocked-up mounting of the pipe need to shave a a little off the head. Seems to be a very nice fit, thats as far for now. LG
