The pilot jet is what I've always called the idle jet, because that is the jet that controls the idle portion of the engine's range.

How's the compression?
The compression will go up when the motor gets warm, like after kicking a million times.
I had a 78 Husky 250OR years ago, that was getting hard to start. I put a fresh top-end on it, problem solved. I knew it was tired though.
Just a thought.

Good question, Ron.  i always thought the comopression was good, since it's a bear to kick over, but it is an older motor that i have never tore down.  I'll check clearance and get a compression reading.
