I just wanted to thank everyone again for coming out to the Concours d'Elegance at the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum.  We had wonderful weather and the Penton Retrospective turned out great...28 Pentons in all!  Mark Mederski took very good care of us and was kind enough to position our row of bikes around the circumference of the circle that's right in front of the Museum.  He and the Museum also supplied special awards for the 1st-3rd place Pentons and a President's award given out by our own leader, Paul Danik.  Lots of POGers were in attendance and the judges were none other than former Penton employee and Museum board member Don Rosene and Jack Penton, who is also a Museum board member.

Thanks again to the following POGers for supplying their bikes:
Dave and Jeremy Ash
Al Born
Al Buehner
Paul Danik
Ted and Reb Guthrie
Bruce and Pat Herbison
Bob, Nelson, and Dave McCullough (and crew)
Pat, Auggie, and Bob Mickevicius (and crew)
Dick Neumann
Jack and Gigi Penton
Gary and Toni Roach
Jim Schneider
Karl Schneider
Bill Smith and Karen Turner
Greg Troyan

Here are a just a few pictures of the middle of the Penton row.  I saw Bill taking a lot more pictures so I'm sure they won't be far behind.

We had Certificates of Participation made up for those who brought machines for the Penton Retrospective, I tried to get to everyone and present them with a certificate at the event.  If I missed someone please let me know and I will get a certificate mailed out right away.

Kent,

Thanks for spearheading the display, as always, you did an excellent job of coordinating the effort.

Also Kent, congratulations on receiving the very prestigious Peter Egan award at the event.  For those who were not in attendance, Peter Egan was asked to choose his favorite motorcycle out of all the displayed motorcycles, and there were a lot to choose from, and he chose Kent's beautiful Jackpiner over all others.  This was quite an honor for not only  Kent, but also for all of us Penton enthusiasts.

Thank you Paul and Mike!  Receiving the Peter Egan award for the Jackpiner was very surprising.  Given the quantity of incredible concours quality machines on the Museum grounds that day, I'm very honored to have received the award.  Peter told me that he felt the Penton Jackpiner was the ultimate off-road machine in its day.  So, moreover, I hope all of you fellow POGers feel honored, as well, that he recognized the Penton's place in motorcycle history.

Now would also be a good time to give credit to Gary Roach for the restoration.  Several years ago Gary offered to restore the Jackpiner for a friend.  I was also recruited to acquire the parts and to help  brainstorm about the project as well.  Recently, I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire the bike.  This is the same machine that was also featured in Gary and Toni's wedding photos at the Museum:

Thank you again to all of you for bringing out your Pentons and helping to showcase them to the rest of the motorcycle community!
