Hey, folks.  You gotta click on this link and check out some footage from the Penton 40th Anniversary event's bike parade, including awesome bike's-point-of-view footage:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MQkJjMeDz0
The story of how Reb and I got the footage is a story in itself, soon to appear in SKT.  Enjoy.  We sure did!

Ted & Reb,

That footage is awesome, the police escort bikes passing the parade were really flying, you have to watch to see them zip by.  You also have some neat footage of Tim sitting backward on Paul Busic's bike getting his still photos, and of the parade passing the Wilford estate.

By the way, your engine sounded really nice.

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks, Paul.  Interesting that you mentioned the Police escort and photographer Tim Branscum.  Although the video is a little "chattery", you can definitely see a couple of the Penton riders looking backwards at hearing the approaching police siren, only to swerve suddenly as the big Harley flashes by.  Those guys were absolutely haulin' on those big bikes.

Also, Tim was very brave to ride backwards on Paul Busick's Beemer like that, in order to get some great photos of the parade.  If you think that's not a little scary, try sitting backwards while passengering on a street bike, with no hands, without being able to see where you are going/how to lean, etc.

Another neat feature of the video is all the 2-stroke smoke.  POG'ers who were staked out along our route said they could not only hear the group coming, but also see the cloud of smoke rising into the air.

That ride was definitely an ultimate experience.  The only thing I've ever done that comes close was racing through the streets of Davis, West Virginia, during the old Blackwater 100 events.

Thanks so much to everyone who made the Penton Anniversary celebration happen.  It was truly awesome.  As we prepare all the video footage for a dvd, it is amazing to review all that happened, everyone who was there, all the bikes, etc, etc.
