Hey guys, I'm back!  I took the advise of both John and Thom on my forks; I adjusted the oil level, and the length of the springs.  And yes, Gavin, my steering head bearing are brand new from my spring rebuild.  In test riding the bike, I have found that the forks do not rebound all the way back up.  Would this be due to a problem with the damping rods, or the result of the changes I did with the amount of oil and the new length of the springs?  I will admit, that the bike is smoother in the slower, rocky terrain, but I question if I have enough travel to handle medium to large bumps/obstacles..... Any suggestions?

Thanks, James

James,
I'm not the sharpest tack in the box so please bear with me.
What are you seeing that tells you the forks are not rebounding all the way back up?
What you should see if every thing is working right is ,
With the bike on a stand ( or milk crate , i know i'm showing my age[:p] , ) Is a fork tube with  length  " X " between the bottom triple tree and the boot on the aluminum slider.
When you take the bike off the crate / stand and the forks are now loaded with the bikes weight , X length is less than before.
When you sit on the bike , one foot on the ground X length should be less . With both feet on the pegs X length is less than all of the above. That's the Weight the springs are sagged for. You have not lost any travel. Its normal and taken into account when the forks were designed.
You could have a bent fork tube that binds and that can give you problems , a damaged bushing in the fork sliders or some thing odd with the damper rod. With the springs out and an axle bolted through the legs you should see some indication of any problems with binding though.
You can grab the axle and move the sliders up and down on the fork tubes. They should move up and down smoothly with no binding .
Can you give us a little more on whats not working right so we could be able to help out a little more?
