Robs Replica parts specialized in rubber parts for vintage MX bikes caught fire the 25:th November. There are all sorts of pictures of the result. Poor guy.

I have mailed him a request for some parts for my new/old KTM 250 1980 project. He might have something to sell and in that case, maybe could use those dollars it'll bring in better.

That is a real shame. I did not ever buy any parts from them or know about the buisness till now but anyone who keeps vintage stuff alive is ok by me. I hope they get things going again.

Vendors come, they give life, they listen, and give us the parts that we need.

INNA word, comes something

Thanks Rob, for the parts, and so much more!

On December 23rd I sent a $100 contribution to Rob's rebuilding effort and encourage each of you to "give until it feels good."

Rob has reproduced several parts for me and my vintage KTM; even improving upon the original design.  I certainly hope he finds the courage to rebuild his operation.  However, his family and home must come first.  Those Austrialian's are a hearty breed and don't know when to stay down; therefore I am encouraged.

P.S.  I'm not wealthy by a long shot.  But I'm in far better shape than Rob is at this time.

Rob wrote back thanking me:

G'day Phil,

Good to hear from you. Thank you so much. We are very grateful. It was an awful shock, but we are on the mend and looking forward to whatever the future brings. I need to get a paying job so I will probably only start making parts in a small way as I need them for whatever restoration I have on the go. I don't know if I can grow from that back into a full time business, but there are plenty of guys all around the world encouraging me and offering to help. It is very humbling.  But there already seems to be quite a few folks scrambling to start making rubber bits. A guy in Holland has some replica KTM bits, and one looks like a copy of the guide I made for you. At least there will be bits available whenever I get another old KTM to replace those I lost.

I need to show my kids Chattanooga, where I was born, so that is another thing in the future to work towards. We will look you up when we manage it.

Thank you again and best wishes.

I found this link which goes into more detail of how, why, current conditions.  It is indeed sobering to think of what might happen to any one of us should disaster strike.

Not to make light of Robb's misfortune but if my place ever caught fire it would probably take out the whole block!Large Boom....
