Hi all,
I recently acquired a couple 1977 Penton MC5 400 projects that with some TLC could be combined to make one relatively complete bike. Bike #1 is frame # 550 02090 with engine # 7-5505631. Has Ceriani leading axle forks with good triple clamps. Good straight wheels and frame. Gas tank has been spray painted black and is solid with no repaired areas. Gas tank has the petcocks on it too. Engine does not turn over and the cylinder has quite a few broken fins. Transmission seems to shift through the gears okay. The back end of the exhaust is missing and the rest of the pipe is solid. No ignition or ignition coil on the bike. The 38mm Bing carb is missing the slide and the adapter bushing between the carb and cylinder. Airbox looks good but missing the filter cage. Seat cover is shot but pan looks good and seat foam is usable. Bike # 2 is pretty much completely scavenged so there isn't much remaining. It basically consists of a real rusty frame # 550 07159 with some various misc parts. The best remaining items from this bike are a good cylinder and head with no broken fins. This cylinder bore currently measures 81.25mm with a rusty sleeve so it will need bored to next oversize. My price is $575 for everything. I'll also consider trading for a 77 Penton 175/250 GS6 of equal value. I've got quite a few pics and will gladly answer any questions. Bikes are located near Tulsa, OK. I might be able to get the stuff to Diamond Dons on Thur/Fri April 2nd or 3rd but you'll have to let me know asap. I could probably meet someone along I-44 in the Tulsa/Claremore area enroute to Diamond Dons also. I've got a few pics posted on Mark's Swapmeet page at the following link but can send pic on request. Thanks !!
