I realize that there is nothing more pleasing to the eye than a correctly restored Penton...however:

With parts for these bikes becoming more and more scarce, I was wondering if anyone had developed a cross-reference guide for parts between different Penton/KTM makes and models?

Additionally, although some may consider this sacrilege, could the same be done with, (ahem) non-Penton/KTM models? For instance a chart that would show a year/model Yamaha YZ rear wheel fitting a year/model Penton Jackpiner with maybe a ** notating the degree of modification to the part to make it work/fit correctly.

I regularly remove parts that fall into the un-obtainium category, put them on the shelf and replace them with EZ'r to obtain parts.

Maybe the best way to handle it is to have guys post what they have done to solve the problem. but it should also be noted that a number of parts have been reproduced. To name a few, kick starters, transmission gears, petcocks and footpegs. Several guys have given me grief because I put foot pegs on that were wider than what was available. but I like them, maybe it does not look stock, but they sure work good and I think safety is an issue.. At least it is to me.

OK, I'll start off. I use petcocks from a Ducati site called Bevel Heaven. They dont look like the originals, but they are brand new Italian petcocks not Chinese knockoffs. They have the same thread as the Penton petcocks, but they actually work unlike the repro ones Al B sells. I am not knocking Al, everything else he has is great, but those petcocks are worthless.

that is great. As I understand, most of the European bikes can use the same petcocks. So the petcocks on my maicos will also fit my Pentons too. The same is true of gas caps,

The only bad thing about those petcocks is the RES and OFF are backwards from the stock petcocks. Down is still on, but you turn the lever towards the outlet for reserve instead of too the outlet for off.
