What's more fun than watching it was the two times I rode the Elsinore GP.....very cool, scenic and challenging.  My last time was on a "73 Gold 250 Harescrambler" and on the last leg of the last lap my gear shifter came off and as I wound my way through the barriers to the scoring station, I discovered it was gone and I was in 3 rd gear...had to clutch, brake and slide into the finish, hitting the barriers...not knowing they were not concrete, but plastic, I figured this one will hurt.  It was plastic and it moved and I laid the bike down sliding to the finish !  OUCH !!!

It has been decades since I saw it. I remember my favorite scene is the helicopter shot of Malcom leaving the roadway, to get around riders, and racing past them in the field and going through the gate(or fence opening) and I think, getting back on the road in front of the riders.  I was 9 or 10 when I saw it and Malcom tearing through that field to pass those riders was the bomb.  

I also remember the scene where therider attempts to use premix from the Husky to start a signal fire and ends up torching the bike.

first saw it at the "drive in"  I was on a double date with a racing buddy. We were so into the movie that we ignored the girls. Boy were they mad, that was the last date with them!  Oh well, they wouldn't have made good "pit tootsies" anyway.

Malcolm is great but you got to admit if you could pick who you would like to be back then it was Steve McQueen. That cat was flat out COOL.

Back in '08 my wife and I were in Riverside and stopped into his shop. Malcolm was on crutches (hip surgery from a crash on his KTM) We chatted with him for about 20 minutes. He couldn't have been nicer. We talked about the movie and some of the same racers we knew from Toledo. Our daughter was attending Cal Baptist univ. at the time. It was almost across the street from his shop.  He told us that he used the same contractor that did a big addition to the school to build his shop. Anyway, super cool guy!!

I love this movie, It played a big part in me getting me started riding and racing, I love all Motorcycle racing but I have to say the shots of the Europeans doing their magic on the motocross track did it for me....I still watch it fairly often, most of the time in my shop as I work on my bikes... don't need to see it, I can see it in my head as I listen to bruce talk. by the way, if you have not seen Dust to Glory which is produced my Bruce's Son you should, it is well worth seeing it too, I watch it on a regular basis too.....
