Moiseev ran straight axle forks for a few years after the other KTM riders switched leading axle forks.  What advantage do you think they offered him over the leading axle forks?

Shorter forks with less offset on the front for quicker steering.

Dane may have some history on this--I believe the first MC5s were tested by he and the Penton brothers and steering was lousy, couldn't hold a tight line in turns. The bar mounts directly over the forks prevented sliding the tubes up in the clamps. They pressed for a different top clamp design which lead to the rear offset clamp top, allowing forks to slide up.

Early pics of the Rooskie team with Marzocchi leading axle forks show the tubes 2"-3" up through the top clamp to tighten steering.

Also the Euros prefered straight axle forks because of no overhang and a lot of events had deep ruts.  I also ran  straight leg forks on my SWM and could have used forward axle.
