I'm liking this Penda talk! I have had a few of them over the years. Here are a couple of shots of my first one at Indian Dunes in 1975. Dave built the pipe for it. Dave's motto was; "Everything is sano at Miller Mano!

WOW!  Great photos of one of those custom PENDA bikes.  It seems as though no two might have been the same, but rather an evolution of the bike over a few years.  Which years was the PENDA built?   That swingarm is so period-correct with all that excess bracing and brackets.  Is the swing-arm aluminum?  Joe

Marc Biro

If memory serves, I believe the first Penda was built in late 1974 by FMF. The swingarm was aluiminum.

A few more Penda pictures.......
1st picture is Dave Miller with an early Penda most likely at OCIR night mx
2nd picture is Norm Bigalows Penda at Perris Raceway, Ca. The build was started by Rick Ashe (Factory Kawasaki motor builder) and completed by Norm
The 3rd picture is of me practicing during the week at Indian Dunes in 1975
4th picture is a project!

Fun times!

Marc,
Good stuff!Like Your Penda. Jackpiner blue,CZ airbox, elsinore front end, frame down tube mod, facing in? The swingarm looks to be a boyd & stelling (T&M)type with Bilstin shock?
Olds 442 with aluminum slot mags in the back round? Cool, wish I could be sent back to 1975 for a week, I was having a bitchin time back then:-)

Wow!!  The pic of Dave M, all blury was the pic I saw.   I remember, going down to FMF to get a pipe from them.  I can't remember If I ever got one, but I do remember how cool the shop was.

Age group class 175cc engine project for 1974 to 1978 Honda CR125 vintage racers, there may be one of these engines racing vintage events now.

1976 Honda MR175 engine undergoing conversion to become a " CR175cc" , MR175 engine cases with work completed, MR175 cylinder, head, piston, crankshaft ready to be assembled. 1977 CR125 six speed transmission in excellent condition with clutch ready to install in MR engine cases, 1978 CR125 CdI magneto rotor, stator, coil and CDI box, ignition is working unit, rotor is installed on MR175 crankshaft and ignition required no work to install. This is a complete diss-assembled engine with all parts inspected, all small parts, bolts and side covers are included. Several small jobs need to be completed and engine can be assembled.

My value is $200.00 as all the parts are nice, I dont want to part this stuff out, will trade for TT500 engine or 1977 Maico AW fuel tank or 1977 Maico AW good front wheel, i can add $$ if your trade parts are more valuable.

Evan Wilcox "Maker of fine aluminum bike bits" has finished the copy of a Penton small MX tank out of aluminum. It will be the riding tank on the Penda. Pablo

Mike,
I was friends with Evan back in high school. He was part of the moto group that would hang out together during lunch at school.
He built the tank for me at no charge. I didn't think about how much the tank was worth until you asked. Googled his site and saw some of his work and now I am scared to use the tank for riding!

With even a restoration of an existing Elsinore aluminum tank costing around $1000, I figured it wouldn't be cheap. He is definitely an artist. Nice work! I think that would be better as a "show tank for the Penda". Mike
