metzler question

I was going through one of my piles of stuff today and came across a metzler perfect cross mounted on a '79 sun rim....the pattern was like nothing i've ever seen.  The center knobs alternate left/right....kinda hard to explain....anyway, the tube is a hi point in better shape than the one i just took out of my modern bike.  Have any of my bretheren POGGERS ever come across this type of tire?
