Gel Coat under Paint?

Hey guys, can you recommend a paint stripper that would remove paint from a fiberglass tank without hurting the gel coat underneath?  I'm hoping the paint that has been sprayed over my 73 JP tank might be removed, and if lucky, the blue gel coat underneath might be salvaged by some sanding and buffing.

It all depends on what kind of paint was used and how many coats. LG

I would talk to a boat shop and see what they recommend.

As gooddirt said. It depends on the paint and which stripper you intend to use. In general it should be quite possible. A paint stripper will likely not affect the undelying gel coat unless left there for quite some time. If the paint above is spay can paint, then is's easy, but if the undelying surface has been sanded, and painted with 2 comp paint, then you will fail.

You can always paint it professionally just as it looked stock. Wouldn't that be best?
