Tire size selection

I'd like to hear a few opinions about tire size selection. My '77 400gs6 came stock with a 4.50x18 Metzeler....I've come up on a deal on a Cheng-Chin, and for about the same price, I can get either a 4.60x18 or a 5.30x18. My question is do I go with the 4.60 (more like stock) or go with the fatter 5.30? The 400 is a beast, so I think it'll "pull" the 5.30 with no problem.

I would worry more about the tire clearing the chain then the hook up..last time I mounted a 5.30 on a pre-80 bike the chain chewed the knobs off it!

I AM CURRENTLY RUNNING A 5.30 CHENG CHEN ON MY '76 MC5. IT WORKS VERY WELL, AND HAS NO CLEARANCE PROBLEMS.

If you go with a Kenda tyre you can go with a 4.50X18 or a 5.10X18 , both are similar in size.
The 4.60X18 is about a 400-425 size.
