I recently purchased a pair of front and rear Metzler MC5 tires for my Jackpiner project.  The front is a 80/21 ($62.28) and the rear 110/18 ($53.57).  It looks like due to the side knobbies and overall rear width 5-1/4" prox. I'm going to have clearance issues with the chain guard.  The original Metzler taken off measured about 4-3/4 so realistically this one is 1/4" larger per side. Unless someone has experience with this size working they will be for sale and could deliver to the Feb. POG meeting.

I could also use a brand and proven size for my next attempt [?]

Dale,

You need a 100-100/18 and the Metzler MC5 wears well for Vintage off-road but so does the Pirelli MT18 & MT16 if they are still sold by Parts Unlimited.  If it was for Moto I like the new Dunlop 756 replacement tire the MX51.

The MT16's are still available.  I just bought one two weeks ago.  Great tire for here in the Northeast.

I have the opposite issue, I have a 100/100-18 and need a 110 MC5.

Britt,
I've called for a return on mine but haven't heard from them with an RGA.  Would gladly make an exchange if you want to swap.  You coming to the Feb. meeting?

I'm out in Oregon but I'd be up for an exchange. I'll zip you off an email.

Dalesman,

Did you first mount the tire on the rim to check it's width ?
They get a bit narrower after you air them up.

The newly purchased 110/100 Metlzer is on it's way to Britt in Oregon.  With advice from Chuck Gresham I purchased a set of Pirelli with the rear being a 110/100.  The overall width 4.70 appears to be identicle to the original Metzler tire that came on the Jackpiner.

Thanks Chuck!
