Anyone want to trade a narrow channel MX tank for a wide channel MX tank that I have.

Wow, this is a good topic. Just when you think you know it all someone come up with something to throw you off guard. [:0]
My initial response to this would have been that the RH tank is for the non-breather frame and the LH tank is for the high breather frame. It now appears that KTM redesigned the MC tanks to hold more fuel.
I did a quick check in my parts books to see what kind of part numbers KTM assigned to the MC tanks. This is what I found:
1972 100/125 parts list - no MC tank shown
1972  175 parts list - no MC tank shown
1973-75 100/125 parts list - #50-07-001-100
1973 250 parts list - #52-07-001-100 (specify color)
1974 175 parts list - #52-07-001-100
1975 CC/GS Frame parts list - #52-07-001-100

So, it looks like there 2 part numbers for the MC tanks. One beginning with #50, the other beginning with #52. But, which number applies to the RH tank and which to the LH tank?

This makes sense, I always wondered how guys like Moiseev were able to make a 45min moto at the pace they ran on those wide open and fast GP tracks with only 1.8gal tanks. Now I see they probably had the MX tank with the larger capacity, from the picture I bet its at least 2.2 or 2.4gal.

Brian,
Gary said he measured the capacity as follows:
1.71gal and 2.18gal. Almost a half gallon more.
